Yesterday my husband graduated from law school. Ten family members and friends attended the three-hour ceremony, where we found out my husband graduated with honors. I felt so proud and relieved. The past three years have caused much financial hardship and stress. When we found out I was pregnant in July, 2001, my husband thought at first it was a sign that he shouldn't go to law school. We were both anxious and uncertain, but here we are, three years later, with a gorgeous diploma ready to frame. I know my husband still has to study for and pass the Bar, but to me, the graduation was a huge milestone.
What I'm proudest of, however, isn't the diploma, it's that my husband never ignored his share of parenting during law school. He arranged his schedule so he could do all of the drop-off and pickups at preschool this academic year. He always managed to take time out for the Schmoop, even during difficult study times. He cooked 95% of our family's meals. He's unbelievably close to our son. I know Father's Day is a few weeks away, but I wanted to devote this post to honoring my husband, who is one happy law-school graduate and one incredible man.
