We're headed to a New Jersey State Park for our first family camping trip this weekend. We're joining three other families (we only know one, through the Schmoop's preschool!). Wish us good weather and good traffic. And if you have any advice about camping with a baby and a 3-year-old, by all means, please share!
2 Kelty External Frame Packs (so we can pretend we're hardcore backpackers, which we aren't )
1 Battery Powered Lantern (because who needs to deal with fuel and mantles when you've got kids?)
2 Ditty Bags (for all the dirty duds we're going to accumulate)
3 Camp Chairs (one with ottoman so this nursing mom can rest her tootsies)
1 Yakima Cricket Backpack Carrier (yay, the Schmoopette is old enough to sit in it finally)
1 Gallon Ziploc bag full of Hot Wheels cars, pirate figures and random other toys for the Schmoop
2 Paperbacks for the parents: 'Housekeeping' and 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'
20 Disposable Diapers (because we love the earth but don't do cloth diapers)
Oodles of "Mm-GORP" (thats Granola, Oats, Raisins and Peanuts with M&Ms)
3 Sets of Flip Flops ( walks to the latrine & communal shower)
1 pair of Keen sandals in child's size 10 (E's first pair of rugged sandals)
1 roll of toilet paper (we can't use more than that, can we?)
1 new pair of trailrunners for the husband and yours truly (his are Montrails, mine are Salomons)
More stuff than we have EVER taken camping. EVER
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
