I'm back from the Sundance Film Festival, and the moment I returned I came down with an awful, awful flu, which I'm still battling. What a wonderful welcome home present, huh? With the husband at work more than ever, after spending four days on Daddy Duty (well, both grandmothers were around, so it wasn't quite that horrific for him, but he still made an effort to be around more often), there's no rest for this weary mama. The Schmoop's fourth birthday is coming up next Friday, so I have to take a moment to thank Birthday Direct and the Oriental Trading Company for allowing me to order the many dinosaur-themed items for the party from the comfort of my bed.
Yes, the theme is "Digging for Dinosaurs," and will feature cups, plates, napkins, decorations and goodie bags with various dinosaurs printed on them. The cake, which Brooklyn pastry chef Margaret Palca is once again baking, will be decorated with a big ol' T-rex, like the one on this napkin:
He has also been such a sweetie about my being sick. He keeps asking his Abuela for food and drinks that he then brings to me in my room: "Mama, here are peanuts." "Here is some Veggie Booty." "Do you want a yogurt smoothie?" "Don't forget to eat, Mama."
So despite feeling craptastic, I love my little Schmoop way too much to let the little particulars of his birthday party left undone.
