Try Sara Zarr's "Story of a Girl":

The Freedom series by Anne McCaffrey (Freedom's Landing, Freedom's Challenge, Freedom's Choice). And you have read Holes by Louis Sacher and Hoot & Scat from Carl Hiaasen, right? What about Eragon from Christopher Paolini and all the Rick Riordan books (Percy Jackson series & The Red Pyramid)?

Don't get too upset at your teenage self; YA books are much better now than when we were teens ;)

Carabee

I'm a YA devotee. I don't know if there was the wide variety of quality YA available when I actually was a YA. I can't say for sure, but I just can't believe that I would have ignored it back then.
Anyhoo. Some of my recommendations:
Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly
Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien

I've read and like all of the books you mentioned, I don't think you'll be disappointed in any of these!

Thanks for this round up! My son is devouring THG series and I need to find something else for him to read.

Wife and Mommy

Thanks for loaning me your books!! Since you gave them to us this past weekend, I have ignored my entire family and absorbed the first two books of The Hunger Games trilogy...and am now desperately trying to find the third in the series.
